2008 Benriach, 13 year-old, 56.2%

Almost resinous but soaked in caramel. Werther is wit there is wisdom and some dusty chocolate notes that remind me of other toffee sweets from bygone years. If there is fruit then it is bruised apples, and nuts not to mention the almonds. Great delivery, rounded and sweet with lively apple and almost nougat sweetness and nuttiness. Slightly mushroomy or truffleish if such words exist. Not long but balanced and carries everything nicely to the death. One for the Francophile/ connoisseur.
