As ever, Carel has really hit the right note with his Bourgogne. A blend this year of fruit from Pommard, Mercurey, Givry, Volnay and the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, this is delightfully crunchy, with plenty of red berry fruit, a hint of perfume and a fresh finish of chalky tannins and mouth-watering acidity. There’s a ripeness here, but the wine is perfectly balanced and sets a benchmark for classic Burgundian Pinot. Drink now to 2025.
